Starting May 3rd, I’m officially out of the house and moved into a shared office space called WorkBar Boston. I need to get used to commuting again since my last desk was about 50ft away from my bed. The commute isn’t too bad though. Today it took only 20 minutes. Feels good to be out of the house and in downtown Boston.
Added a lot of projects since the last post. Take a look and let me know what you think. Also, currently working on some great projects that I will be posting up soon.
Owning your own small business can be challenging. First off, you control when work gets done and you need to motivate yourself to do it. I have never needed to turn away work because of having too much. I just become more organized and manage my day better.
I find that when i have a few tasks to do, those tasks take longer. If i have a lot of work to do i tend to be more focused. I always wonder why i cant make myself work at the same speed all the time no matter what is on my to-do list.
This brings me to my next point. How do people organize themselves? Pen and Paper? Calendar? Different software? I usually ask people who are not in the industry how they keep tasks organized to get a different perspective. I find that A mixture of different elements works for me. I use software called Things to keep my day to day organized. I mix that with pen and paper and also use ical to manage longer term items. If Things created a calendar view for me then it would eliminate the need to use 2 programs.
How do you organize your self?
Hey everybody - 2010 is going to be great in my books. It has already started off well and we are only 4 weeks in.
New work is going to be added soon! I promise! I have a lot of sites going on right now that are in the middle of production so i am just waiting on content. Looking forward to being able to show them off in the coming weeks.
On a personal note i started playing hockey again. I’m totally loving every minute of it and looking forward to being able to join a team next season.
Cheers!
No work has really been updated on here due to some longer term stuff. I will be having some new updates in the next few weeks though.
This Holiday will be our first in Boston and are really looking forward to it. We are heading to Maine and VT in the next few weeks though to celebrate with out families.
2009 has been a amazing year and am excited to see what 2010 has to bring. The short list of accomplishments in 2009 for me was getting engaged, continued growth of my business, moving to Boston and meeting some of the best people that will be around for a long time to come.
Still working away but next post will be in 2010! Cheers!
This version of the site is not too far of a stretch from the previous one. The old layout was live for just shy of 2 years and it really worked great for me. I didn’t want to change it too much because I still really enjoy the look. I want to focus more on my web-work, which is reflected better in the new version. The biggest upgrade that you will see is how I present the work once you click on a client. I have a few projects that require a login to view so I want to give the option to view screenshots of all my projects so you can quickly click through the work I did.
Please let me know what you think of the upgrade. I am starting to use a new Content Management System as well with this version. My previous site worked off of a small one I built for myself but this one is using Expression Engine. So far, I love it. I will have more to say the more I use it and am looking forward to use this on upcoming projects.
Enjoy.
After living in Vermont for 6 years, we decided to move to Boston to strive for bigger, better things. It has been two months so far and it just feels right.
We live in the Fenway, a few blocks away from Fenway Park. I have seen a few of the Red Sox walking around the neighborhood too. This is a great area and is within walking distance of pretty much anything that we would want. Our weekend strolls include walking around the North End (smelling all the great food) and window-shopping down Newbury St.
I’m going to keep this blog mostly work related, but will point out major events in my life to add some of my personality into this.
